Our Story

Who We Are.

Yolanda Lichty began her musical journey, madly flipping through the hymnal in search of the number given as she sat beside her mother in church. Her love of composition was ignited when her elementary music teacher challenged his students to write short melodies. She wrote songs through high school, mostly to process the teenage angst and find her way to hope in Christ. After graduating, she dedicated herself to teaching as an elementary homeroom and music teacher, occasionally composing and arranging music for her students.

Yolanda loves exploring the intersection of song and story, not only telling stories through music but also receiving the stories of her listeners. She seeks to glorify God and love people through her music.

Yolanda is currently completing a Bachelor's of Music Composition at Wilfrid Laurier University, where she has had opportunities to write for the Laurier Singers, Concert Choir, and Brass Ensemble. Her music has been sung by Heart Cry Ensemble, Cantate Domino Ensemble, and Women Sing as well as in schools, churches, and music camps in several countries, including Canada, the US, and England. Her works range from hymns, sacred choral, and art song to string quartet and instrumental chamber music.

When she's not studying or creating music, Yolanda enjoys unwinding with a good cup of coffee, freestyle cooking, walking with her fiancee, or canoeing in the lakes of majestic Algonquin Park.
